How to Register?

A person who is applying for the first time can apply on form number 6. This helps a person who has attained the age of eighteen to register themselves with the election commission of India. It is important to update about change of residence. The new address where a person is residing has to be updated along with proper documents, which will act as proof of change of address of an individual. A person can get a new voter’s ID card by filling form 6. You can update this information to the registration office of election commission. Process of changing the address on a voter’s ID card can also be attained from a government official at the registration office. If a person is away from their address for a specified time, they are still entitled to enroll their names in the electoral list. However, in case of death of a person, their name has to be deleted from the list so that estimation of number of voter’s is done in an exact manner. As voter’s list is prescribed as per location, a person can get their name deleted from the list of that particular location if they are shifting permanently to other location or area. Registering for a voter’s ID card from more than one place is an offense and such mistake is punishable in court of law.
Revision of election commission of India voter list is done in every five years. After completing the survey, a final list is prepared and put across very polling booth. A person can go and check for their names in the list that has been prepared for a particular place. If on any circumstance, name of a person is not included, they can fill up Form number 6 and get their names included in the list. If a name are not found in the list or has been deleted for any particular reason, then people can fill up form number 7 and get their names included in the list. For modification in details of an eligible voter, form 8 is available for use. A person can fill up this form to make necessary amendments in the election commission of India voter list. In case of changing voter’s jurisdiction area, a person can fill up Form 8A. This form helps a voter in informing election commission of India about change in electoral area to any other electoral area.
After preparation of final list of voter’s, modification and changes is possible. All changes are possible by filling up prescribed forms and submitting it with the registration office of voter id card election commission of India. As per law, a person can register themselves for voter id card election commission of India at the last moment of submission of voter’s list for voter’s id card. However, it is advised to register at least ten days before the final list of voter’s are made.
